What Is Moon Medical Alert?

One answer to the needs of many older people for both security and independence is what's called a Personal Emergency Response System [PERS]: a signaling device that summons help during an emergency.

When an emergency occurs, you simply press the button on your pendant or hand transmitter to alert our response center that you need help.

Here's how it works...

The PERS system consists of two components: a portable, water-proof help button (transmitter), which the user wears or carries, and a receiver unit connected to the user's telephone line (no new line is needed).

If the PERS user experiences a fall or other emergency, medical or otherwise, he or she can simply press the portable help button to call for aid.

Once the button is pressed, it activates the receiver, which in turn dials the Moon Medical Alert Center which has caring, extensively-trained specialists on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

You are quickly put into two-way, hands-free voice communication with one of our specialists, who simultaneously have your vital, life-saving information available in front of them on their computer screens.

They can see your pertinent medical history, your precise location, preferred hospital, and contact information for your closest Responders (relatives, neighbors, and friends).

They can then contact these responders as well as your local Emergency Services (ambulance, police, fire), and relay your information and any special instructions, all while remaining in constant voice communication with you until help arrives, enabling early intervention and reducing the risk of the debilitating injuries that often result from long periods of time without help following a medical emergency.

How much does it cost?

How do I install it?

  • The Moon Medical Alert unit sets up in just a few simple steps. We send you your system with simple, easy-to-read instructions. Must I install a new telephone jack?

  • No. The base unit simply plugs into your existing phone jack.

Will this system work if I only have a cell phone?

  • No, our service requires access to a Land Phone Line.

Do I have to be in the same room as the base-unit for it to work?

  • No. You can be in a different room, on a different floor, or out getting the mail and the signal will still be received in most cases, as long as you are within about 300 feet of the base-unit.

Do I talk into the button to get help?

  • No. The button is used to activate the unit.

What if I press the help-button but am unable to speak?

  • If our medical alert center receives an alarm but is unable to establish voice communications with you, they will immediately dispatch emergency services and your specified responders.

What if I can't answer the door?

  • Our monitors also contact neighbors, family, and friends. You let us know in advance who has access to your home and they can direct your rescuers.

Can I wear the transmitter in the shower?

  • Yes. The transmitter is water-resistant and you can shower with it. The transmitter should not be taken into a bathtub.

Can I transfer the system if I am moving or taking a long vacation?

  • Yes. Just be sure to notify us at least 24 hours in advance so that we can update your records.

Equipment Installation

The Moon Medical Alert system sets up in just a few minutes. We ship your equipment to you pre-programmed and everything you will need is included in the box.

Simply plug the phone cord into the phone jack and plug in the power cord, then press the power/reset button to reset the system. That's it, it's set up.

Now, put on your necklace transmitter and push the help button to test the system and see exactly how it works. After you've told the Response Center operator that everything is ok, press the power/reset button again and go about your day with the comfort of knowing that Moon Medical Alert is there if you should need it.

You can test your system as often as you like on your own.

The Moon Medical Alert system is also Fully Supervised. This means that the system frequently checks itself on its own, and will alert the Response Center automatically should it detect a problem such as a low battery.

In the event of a technical problem, our support staff will work with you to try and resolve the issue over the telephone. Very often, there is a simple oversight such as the power cord falling out of the socket. If the problem cannot be remedied remotely, we will send you a replacement system or part, next day delivery.
